@eatwithseth: Petite Vie is Paul Virant’s absolutely magnificent French brasserie in Western Springs, Illinois — about 25 miles from where I live in Chicago. The food and drinks are so delicious that it’s easily one of the best restaurants in the Chicago Suburbs and well worth the drive. I just loved everything I ate and drank here — and, boy, did I get to try a lot! Here’s everything I had: 1. Black Truffle Gougeres, Truffled Gouda Cheese 2. Scallop Grenobloise: Brown Butter, Lemon & Caper Sauce, Marcona Almonds 3. Abeille Amère: Chartreuse, Honey, Lemon, Orange Bitters 4. Parisienne Gnocchi: Chanterelle Mushrooms, Sweet Corn Cherry Tomatoes, Bacon 5. Apricot Tartine: @publicanqualitybread Sourdough, Charred Shishito Peppers, Fromage Blanc, Grilled Apricots, Hazelnuts, Apricot Gastrique 6. Salade Lyonnaise: Frisée, Soft Boiled Egg, Pork Belly, Croutons, Dijon Vinaigrette, Basil 7. Foie Gras Mousse: Sauternes Gelée, Seasonal Compote (Rhubarb), Crostini 8. Bijou: Tanquery Sevilla, Green Chartreuse, China China 9. Escoffier Potatoes: Demi-Deuil Fingerling Potatoes, Truffle Cornichon Aioli, Fresh Summer Truffles 10.
