It’s the 1st of the Hallel psalms 113-118. These psalms are sung during the time of 3 feasts of Israel, more in particular the passover. With psalm 113-114 at the beginning of the meal along with 115-118 after the meal. It’s intresting Jesus singing these psalms as he was celebrating passover before making His way to the cross as he is our passover lamb. In Matthew 26:30 it alludes to Jesus and his disciples singing these psalms. One thing to take note of when the meal was over, it wound be ended by the words “ It is finished”. Jesus ended the meal not after the meal with His disciples, but when He was on the cross John 19:30 when He declares “ It is finished”. So much more to say and dive into on these psalms. I hope this helps as a back drop or introduction as you continue with our sister through these psalms.
