MLs actually can apply dialectical materialism, unlike Trots. Chinese communists use capitalist production strategically to build socialism, strengthening the state, resisting Western imperialism (especially the US post-Bretton Woods), and developing productive forces. They get that material conditions must be analyzed and policy is a reflection of those conditions instead of a projection of your ideal into a vacuum.

I think it’s in part due to the propaganda pushed that China is some ultra communist/socialist state, opposite in nature to the US. This leads to a lot of people who critique the US swinging way too far and thinking everything “bad” ever said about China is nothing but propaganda even if some of the claims hold weight. It’s weird lol

people don't read (especially works that make you actually think, like theory) like they used to because of the attention spans of the youth being rotted down from tiktok, ig reels etc. why would anyone want to think when it's easier to just consume? (this is just one of the reasons we are theoretically bankrupt but it's arguably one of the biggest reasons)

Richard Nixon opened relations with China back in the 70s. China is more capitalist than communist at this point. Communist countries don’t have billionaires. China has many.

Exactly. It’s the same open door imperialism that the west perfected (especially that of the soft power USAID practiced in the last 20 years). To hear MC tell it, it’s all to disrupt American hegemony and boost the global proletariat. Yes, surely China has no imperial ambitions and long term strategic goals that mirror that of western imperialism 🙄 cooked.
