Hello as a deaf person it makes me so happy when anyone comes up to me randomly in public or at church and signs with me!! Even if they are not great at it. And all my deaf friends feel the same. The only time I’ve ever been irritated is when people ask me to teach them swear words or when they exclusively just fingerspell .

Just go do it! I’m in an interpreting program but no deaf person has ever been mean to me while trying to communicate with them

They fucking love when hearing people put in an effort. As long as you don’t pretend to know ASL and let them know you’re learning, I don’t see a problem with it
