I had a coworker crash out on me after I confronted her for sleeping through her night shift. I had to do her work and then she started yelling screaming calling me lazy and incompetent. I let her go on and called her embarrassing and walked away. My other coworker said I should have fought back. What this coworker didn’t realize is if you fight back, you’re giving them the reaction that they want so they can use it against you. I stayed silent and let her go crazy. She also did this mins before a shift exchange. We work in a nursing home and she en we bothered to answer call lights and was snoring through them. She also never did breathing around. Staying silent is not weakness, it’s about responding and not reacting. Silence IS a response. I would no longer have a job if she saw how angry I could really get. I have learned to control myself and stay professional.
