2016. When I realized that a majority of the people in the village that raised me in Northern Iowa were DL racists, misogynists, homophobes and ignorant!

Both parties refuse to do anything about it. It happens in the most pew-pew free zones. There are way too many mentally ill and unstable people in this country. No other country has the amount of unhinged individuals we do. You can take all the pew-pews away. They will still get one.

Something definitely broke in me that day. My daughter had just started preschool. I went and picked her up immediately and stayed home and sobbed for what felt like days. You're totally right it wasn't just the horrific event itself but the lack of action afterwards awards. My kids are 13 and 16 now and nothing has changed. We live between the police station and their school and my heart stops every time I hear sirens go past our house and then I wonder why I'm so tired.

Consistently haunted by the image of President Obama in my freshman year history classroom getting ready to go into the auditorium and try to say something to make it a little less terrible.

I live in Iowa and when that goofy senator said we all got to die that definitely help us. Miss Kim can just sign anything like she been doing, but I love when I had Kim on Capitol Hill. She got to stuttering and crying cry, cry cry, the senators that was questioning her Destroyed her

When nothing changed after Sandy Hook, I lost hope that it would ever change. Wish I could be proven wrong.

My daughter was graduating from University of Iowa College of Education that same day as Sandy Hook. I remembered thinking at her graduation that my daughter could be the front line some day for her future students and how scared that made me for her. But I had hope something would be done and that this would be the final horrible school event. I would never have thought then that we would make absolutely no progress. It’s sinful to still have this happening.

The gun fantastics want guns because they are afraid of the exact thing that the orange guy is doing to our country. But those same people support everything he is doing. I don’t get it.

The NRA and gun lobbyists have campaigned and spewed on the manipulative rhetoric that guns don’t kill people, people kill people. While that may be true to a point, it is also the ease in which anyone in this country can obtain a firearm. Though states may vary on their regulations to own firearms, there is no concrete legislation that mandates certain criteria needed to purchase firearms, but why is that? It boils down to one thing in my eyes, and that is the money those same lobbyists will lose if legislation like that gets passed. Whether by willful ignorance, or just plain stupidity, a major group of people in this country have been manipulated with taking the 2nd amendment out of context, and believing the rhetoric that all these dems are coming for your guns. I am a gun owner myself, and I am all in favor of a piece of legislation that would make it a more thorough process to own a firearm. Whatever it may take, even with my own firearms, but as long as the greed in this country lives on with the profit that is made from firearm sales, nothing will ever change.
