My American friend was choosing his route through Canada and heard Winnipeg is dangerous. Then read it’s the same danger level as Denver and decided it wasn’t so bad 😂

I was also super sick when I came back from Vegas but for like MONTHS. The only thing that really helped was a humidifier that can do warm water and I put some eucalyptus, mint and tea tree essential oils. Onlyyyyy thing that helped

FIRST KNOWN CIVILIZATION OF THE AMERICAS MAY HAVE MIGRATED FROM AFRICA is not something you will hear in most history classes but once you really look at the Olmec heads it gets hard to ignore. These huge stone heads in the Americas show broad noses full lips and powerful facial features that many people instantly recognize as strongly African looking which is why scholars and researchers started asking decades ago who were these people really and could early Africans have reached and influenced the first major civilization of the Americas thousands of years ago. When you go around the backs of some of these heads you also see what looks like rows or patterns similar to braids or cornrows carved into the stone which has led researchers and on the ground observers to describe them as African styled cornrow hair braids and to point out that at least one known head clearly shows braided like patterns hanging down the back. Also looking at the Olmec/Mayan calendar, at the center we see a figure that resembles the deity Bes from Africa. Also note that both figures are usually shown with their tongue sticking out in a unique way. Mainstream archaeology today generally teaches that the Olmecs were an Indigenous American civilization that developed locally in Mesoamerica but even many of those same scholars admit that the exact meaning of the facial features and headgear is still debated and that the Olmec world shows signs of long distance contacts trade routes and complex social networks connecting different regions of the Americas. African voyagers could have crossed the Atlantic using currents and ship designs already proven capable in the ancient world and then mixed with local populations to help shape early American civilizations. While that position is controversial and heavily challenged by many academic Mesoamerican specialists it has opened up a powerful conversation about how much of Black global history has been dismissed erased or labeled pseudo history whenever it centers African innovation leadership and exploration instead of limiting Black history to slavery and colonization. For a lot of us especially during Black History Month looking closely at the Olmec heads is not about stealing anything from Indigenous Americans but about asking bigger questions about migration shared roots and how people of African descent might be part of the story of the Americas thousands of years before the transatlantic slave trade even began and how those early movements could have created new sub groups and identities across time and space. #fyp #olmec #blackhistorymonth #america #fba
