My nanny (my grandma on my mom’s side) got really bad Alzheimer’s and dementia… it broke my moms and my heart into pieces. She would call probably 20-60 times a day just to ask us the same thing. I remember there was one time that I answered one of her phone calls, and when we got off the phone she said “okay I’ll talk to you tomorrow. We hadent even been off the phone for a whole minute yet before she either called my mom or me right back…. Just to ask the same thing…. When my papa (my nanny’s husband) passed away, i remember that we had to tell her every day that her husband had died… Her Alzheimer’s and dementia got so bad that it got to the point when she eventually stopped asking us about my papa…. And so therefore we just didn’t even bring him up…

My mom's husband went down hill after they both fell and she broke her hip. He couldn't string sentences and spoke nonsense words. In a month he was bedbound but once in a while he remembered I brought and asked me to sneak us more ice cream
