@resident_cryptid: chiming in more because i think us invalidating esch other is bad BUT/AND ALSO we should be acknowledging physical reality and physical reality does have heiraechy #disabled #disability
also remember that someone's disability might seem like lower support but in fact isn't so we should be aware of differences in needs but overall should stick together. we're already discriminated against too much as is.

I’m freshly gardened and the whole video I’ve been nodding, can’t believe this is such a hard thing for people to grasp.

I love the video although, I find it really frustrating when these conversations are almost exclusively about accessibility because while yes it is a massive problem in our ableist society it is not the only factor. I see no one trying to discuss the nuances of how long you've been impacted by your disability or how much treatment you go through per x amount of time or how much pain you're in, when those are all more inherent factors
personally I typically have pretty good mobility and use aids on bad days but I've been physically disabled my whole life and spent a lifetime in hospitals and that's not to try and say I have it worse than other people but you have to agree that the disability hierarchy would look much different if our surroundings were more accessible to mobility aids

even as someone with "mild POTS", who can go out, i also Can't rlly cook especially in summer otherwise i'll literally faint in the kitchen. actual non-disabled people won't understand that, but a disabled person should... and yeT (just to confirm ur video)

I agree that being disabled no matter how sucks. I feel like hierarchy is a terrible turn of phrase in this scenario. Disabilities are so varied and dynamic that its a huge spectrum. Aging will only ever add to anyone's disability and will lead to everyone eventually having some disability. I wish that instead of being judgemental to each other we could just push for equitable accommodation for everyone.

Exactly this but what drove me insane what the white person who said that me being Romani as a deaf-blind person doesn’t affect the way I get care because I’m not specifically black when I tried to explain that as a child doctors and other people dismissed my parents concerns about my symptoms and development and blamed them for anything that was wrong with me because they are Romani and had me in our Vardo (traditional horse and wagon) instead of in a hospital and that it was their fault if I was disabled because they were “Gypsies” (which is a slur by the way) and it was probably karma but yeah no I totally don’t get discriminated against in Europe of all places just because of my ethnicity right…okay

“Physically able disabled person” sounds really mean to me. The idea that physical disabilities are so much harder (as a whole) than all mental/neurodevelopmental disabilities is extremely harmful. My disability of ~msn autism just straight up is harder than some mild physical disabilities. It impacts my life a lot more. I’m worried about how I’m even going to be able to handle having any job at all without the added context that I can’t drive and might not ever be able to, not just that jobs will discriminate against me as they absolutely will, but on my end being able to handle one without having a meltdown every night or even during the shift. When some people can do all of those things but they need to use a cane to get around, and they don’t have social struggles either. I have personally experienced bullying from people like that cause even though we’re both disabled, they’re still allistic. I think a lot of disabled people on here, both creators and commenters, and possibly in society in general are just too comfortable assuming the life quality and struggles of other disabled people from entire other categories of disability that they don’t themselves have. Like for example if you gained your physical disability 3 years ago in an accident and that’s all, you should not be coming on here and picking fights with intellectually disabled people about how your life is harder than theirs. Vice versa too, if you have a disability you were born with that’s in the brain you should unprompted attack people who were born with their legs not functioning right or someone who just got one amputated that’s just so mean and nasty. People keep trying to create 2 groups of disabled people (physical vs non-physial; visible vs invisible; etc) in order to say “MY group is harder to deal with and is more disabled than yours all the time ever actually”.
