i asked my school what the examiner charges and nobody had an answer. the number keeps coming back the same everywhere i look: 800 to 1,000 dollars just for the checkride. that's two hours of someone's time and a signature. the airplane isn't even in that. here's what actually got me. the median cost of the whole certificate is 16,500 now, and the checkride is the line item nobody writes down. you budget for hours. you don't budget for the guy who decides if you keep them. i'm at a part 61 school in scottsdale and i pay one lesson at a time, so i'll get this bill eventually. when i do i'm writing it down to the dollar. if you've already done yours — what did the examiner charge? i actually want to know if 800 is the floor or the ceiling. #studentpilot #ppl #checkride #flighttraining #aviation
