Mine told me to stop singing. When I asked why, she said "It's hard for you "

Good enough with social cues to know that’s a bad thing to say, not good enough with social cues to know not to explain it 😂

my kids are all gen z, and autistic in some way... before my injury I was working at a restaurant with a bunch of Gen Z kids (I'm Gen X... important to the story) so, I would hear something, and not understand the slang. if I asked my middle child, 20, she would just tell me what it means. if I asked my youngest daughter, 16, she would remind me that I'm old (45) and I should "stop trying to understand our language, you sound cringe and I don't want to see you in a reddit video"... this was last year, and I'm still laughing

I thought my son didn't like me. Nope. He just didn't have any inside thoughts.

Omg same! I was super tired from a 11 hour shift the night before. Asked my daughter jokingly if I looked terrible. Completely deadpan, she responded, “do you want the true response or the nice response”? She is so unintentionally funny.

My autistic son covers his ears and runs away when I sing. My NT kid said “mummy you sound really good when you hit the notes 😌”

Whenever I sing, my disabled brother tells me to stop because I'm "BREAKING the song". 🤣

my son said "why do they sing when they know they're bad at it?" so i had to explain that people who can't sing well usually can't hear they're not matching pitch 😅

He needs to double down, sing louder and do it in public while they are with him.

I was later diagnosed autistic. but I remember growing up my dad always getting onto me for being mean to my mom. I never had any idea what he was talking about. I remember just looking at him so confused and being like Dad I'm just being honest. I have too autistic sons now. I get it

As an (now adult) autistic person- yeah. We often don’t get the whole “lie to be nice” thing. When I was 14 I called my aunt that kept living off of other family members “aunt moocher”. Didn’t mean it as an insult. I just nicknamed her what she was. She did end up getting her act together after that though.

As a late diagnosed AUDHD woman, there were so many signs; telling people about themselves accurately and it coming off as mean. I remember being 9 and asking my cousin (16 & boy crazy) why she dated like she was ugly and me telling her bf “you can’t be mean and ugly, you have to pick one or nobody is going to like you”. When I was in 11 my Auntie & her “bf”came to our house to tell us they were engaged. Me: but he’s gay, he should marry a man. 💀

I used to work with kiddos who have autism and one time my kiddo began to sign All Stars and I sang with him but he told me to have a “quiet voice”…I was essentially silenced 😔

This sounds exactly like my kids 😂😂😂 both autistic. Youngest is definitely mean on purpose. Eldest always correct her accidentally being more mean. If youngest calls you fat the eldest will say it’s ok if you are fat, fat people are still beautiful 😂

My oldest son used to just scream at me to stop singing. My youngest says “I really love the sound of your voice, mom, but not when you’re singing”….. They’re both autistic…

Jokes aside I actually think this is awesome cause you can tell how well children are being treated at home by the comfort they display in communicating discomfort to their parents. Politeness wise, they’re coming along but they got the right spirit 😂😂😂

I was singing and had a nonverbal kid clamp his hand over my mouth and use his device to say "Please no" I haven't sang in public since.
