@emmietanner25: 🚨PSA 🚨Postpartum hair loss x tiny wiggly fingers and toes = hair tourniquet risk! Luckily my husband is a pediatric ER doctor and we noticed it and removed it quickly with Nair but a hair tourniquet can be extremely dangerous for babies causing pain, swelling, redness, and tissue damage possibly leading to autoamputation if not promptly treated. Our baby girl is doing great now but it was a good reminder for me to be more diligent about checking the twins clothes and surroundings! #hairtourniquet #newmom #momlife #momtips #postpartum #postpartumhairloss
”you use nair!?!? Is that even safe” they can lose a toe, nair is better then losing a damn toe, as long as it’s washed off after. If I was a baby I would rather have my parents use nair then letting me lose a damn toe

Tbh, I wish I would have known this when my babies were little. My baby ended up having a hair tourniquet and she almost lost her toe to it! She’s 13 now and still has the scar!

my mom told me to always check fingers and toes when they seem to be crying for no reason. I was able to catch a few before they got too tight!

I learned about this when I was studying fashion & designing children’s clothing. It’s crazy how such small details can affect babies! I’m glad yours is okay ♥️

This is so important to remember. CHECK YOUR BABIES FINGERS TOES AND PRIVATE AREAS FOR HAIR THAT COULD BE WRAPPED AROUND TIGHT.

I’ve made it apart of my baby boys night time routine so I don’t forget! After bath and lotion I check hands, feet, and privates for hair tourniquets! I felt like it was easy to remember as part of the routine

Hate to say it because it’s a pet peeve of mine when people think watching medical shows makes them a doctor, but “The Pitt” taught me a lot of medical info I didn’t know previously—hair tourniquets included!
