yes, exactly. I'm available social worker for people who are on Medicaid. i truly believe they should have their benefits, and at the same time I am only human and wish that my health insurance was cheaper or free like medicaid. this is why I am for taxpayer funded universal healthcare, the hierarchy and jealousy comes from the perceived or actual inequality between the cost and access to public and private insurance.

What's extra funny is it's still not free. Medicare takes almost $200 from me and I still have to pay extra for an HMO.

It generally is more beneficial to be poor in this economy than it is to be middle/working class. The poor people get what they need and are lacking fulfilled while the working class do not qualify for any of those assistance but also cannot afford basic needs. I would be furious too.

I am jealous, but I also realize I don’t want their life. I don’t mind my taxes going to help out those in need. I think about the NICU babies and children with chronic illnesses.

the thing is more people should qualify bc they are still using a poverty level that's so outdated and doesn't account for current cost of living and inflation. but the rich want the middle class angry at those who get these benefits instead of their anger being directed at the rich. trust me, I think all of us wish we could be well off and didn't need any of these programs. everyone deserves healthcare, food and shelter. I also absolutely hate hate the stigma around it and being told don't have kids you can't afford. I had all of mine before ever needing benefits but inflation and then having two disabled kids drastically changed our finances and I'm unable to work bc they need full time care. I really wish this divide would end and everyone would start voting in a way that would benefit all instead of voting for a party that wants to get rid of all safety nets

Medicaid isn’t even a benefit. Those who have it, have it because they lack benefits—through their employer, in the greater scheme of life. I’m currently on Medicaid because I’m disabled. Just finished a year of chemo. I was MUCH better off financially with my high-deductible insurance plan, even requiring a medication that according to Cigna’s EOBs was $94K/mo. Yes my healthcare is dirt cheap and I am suffering less from my conditions due to increased access to healthcare, but I can’t afford to eat and I’m bedbound lol. Like please give me back the benefits that come along with the ability to work FT!

I grew up in a home that was only benefits and it was hard. It was a mountain i had to climb to get out. I felt like i was running up hill in molasses to not be in the same freaking spot. I dont have a problem with people needing help but the kids need a hand up when they escape

I’ll admit I’m jealous. I am soooo jealous but also happy for them that they have less of a struggle but damn my husband and i get no help and we are barely treading water. I’m just gonna keep voting and try and move it the right direction 😭

You have to remember the system is broken. People deserve those things but there are a lot of people who take advantage of the system. I remember being a kid hungry while our parents traded their food stamps for beer and cigs.

I'd be dead without medicaid and I do work, no food stamps. hospital every month for the last year,multiple tests, no diagnosis. can't imagine the cost. and I'm currently working with a broken arm.

I remember going to a new high school. I told my dad all of the kids have name brand nice clothes. He said it’s because all their parents are on welfare and can afford those expensive clothes. I didn’t even know what welfare was at 14/15. He was a hater 😅

They really do be jealous. But also if you can afford vacations and cars you shouldn’t be worried about those who get it. Some of them work and pay taxes so they should get it if they still need the help

This is NOT how I feel personally but I do think there’s this misconception that poor black people get benefits and poor whites don’t even though I am sure that isn’t true.

I resent not qualifying. I am on a giant benefit cliff. Take home same if I work 30hrs and qualify for benefits, OR I work 50 and pay for mine. 20 x hours a week to afford to pay for my benefits. Only 25 years to go!
