Most Catholic schools do not have to pay certain taxes because they are typically organized as non-profit religious or educational organizations, which are granted tax-exempt status.

Public schools don’t have the security either in Minneapolis SD. That’s why I moved. With Emerson Elementary in MPLS, I was able to walk in with no ONE noticing and go to the second floor and get my kid out of her class. That was the day I decided to move to Minnetonka. I don’t like Walz - hes ruined this state. But it’s not just him who has ignored schools in MN. It’s also not public versus private schools. It’s a bigger problem.

They should be paying for their own security since it’s not a public school. They can use all that money they collect from the students. You can’t have it both ways. It’s either public funded and it goes by the same rules as public schools or it’s private and they don’t get public funds.

Private schools can get their funding from the parent’s children who go there. They should not be able to get public funds. They are more than welcome to go to public schools.

Private schools do not get state funding - those families pay tuition to the wealthiest religion in the world. The Catholic Church has enough money to pay for security for their schools

the government provides over 8k per student per year in MN for public schools, this money should be diverted to private schools should a student not attend a public institution

My first thought (I live in FL) was do they not have someone watching cameras? Did they not see someone in all black with multiple guns setting up to shoot outside the church? And literally did they not have a single armed person on that campus who could intervened to stop it? The answer is no. In FL, our state will help pay for off duty officers for private schools at all times. This is atrocious the state would not help protect these kids

Yah and the school safety / security bills proposed by the republicans was only specific to public schools. So neither side of the aisle really thought the need to provide funding to non-public schools.
