It’s not dead, they just a take a minute to recuperate. As long as the hook wasn’t fatal in its removal or the fish has been out of the water obvi, my proof? I’ve been fishing for trout since I was five. I’ve seen them live from some crazy injuries

So fun fact about trout: the reason they seem like they die upon release is because of the lactic acid buildup during the fight so they become temporarily paralyzed for a bit. This also has the chance to kill them so you won’t know if you killed the trout until about 5 minutes after release 🙂
