Replying to @Whiskey_weekends “You’re wasting contractors’ time by getting multiple bids.” I completely disagree. If it’s my money, I have every right to know what my options are. Not very long ago, I had two sewer line bids. One company came in at $17,000. The other came in at $8,000. That’s a $9,000 difference. Are we really supposed to just accept the first number we hear? I’ve seen roof bids vary by $4,000, $6,000, even $10,000. Just last week, a friend had central air go out in one of her rentals. Bid number one: $20,000. Bid number two: $15,000. Bid number three: $8,500. Same job. Three very different prices. And I could give example after example after example. Every company has different overhead. Different labor costs. Different suppliers. Different profit margins. And as a consumer, I think you should absolutely get more than one bid. In fact, I think it’s irresponsible not to. And here’s the thing. Contractors know people shop around. It’s normal. It’s business. Nobody is writing blank checks. Now, if you’re asking five companies to come out for a $75 repair, that’s probably excessive. But if we’re talking about a sewer line, roof replacement, HVAC system, or a major inspection item? I’m getting more than one bid every single time. Even when I think I already know who will be the least expensive. Sometimes buyers want confirmation. Sometimes sellers want peace of mind. And sometimes you realize the cheapest bid isn’t the best option either. Price matters. Quality matters. Reputation matters. But information matters too. I’m curious. If you had a major repair on your house, would you get multiple bids? Or are you more of a one-and-done type of person? #alishacollins #realestatebestie #casperwyoming #inspectionrepairs #homesellingtips
