pure gold! you go by the book thinking you understand but they hit you with "ja, ich kann Deutsch" It took me a lot of frustration to accept the fact that after finally internalize that the verb goes at the end, natives do this.

This video does a great job explaining an interesting aspect of German sentence structure. It's fascinating how in everyday speech, modal verbs don't always require the infinitive at the end. Very informative!
