I am Camiguingnon Born and Raised in Bonbon,Catarman where the Old Town of Catarman a Former Capital of Camiguin who ruined by the Volcanic Eruptions last 1871..Camiguin is a Former sub-Province of Misamis Oriental and it became independent Province last 1968..As Far as I know and our Ancestors and Camiguingnon historians said the Old name of Camiguin is Kamiging which derived from Kamagong Tree which located in the Mountain top of Mt.Hibok-Hibok..And whe Foreigners came to the island they interpret the name of the island to"Come again"...

As far as my Mom said, since she's born and raised in Sagay. The name of the island "Camiguin" started when one of the locals was asked by a foreign visitor of what is the island called but the locals didn't quite heard and understood what the foreign visitor said so the locals asked "Come again?" for they want to repeat the question. Then the foreign visitor said "Ah, Camiguin". 🥰😁
