It’s heartbreaking that this happened. I don’t condone violence, but I do think we need to talk about how institutions like the church sometimes create rejection and hostility toward people. When you strip away people’s dignity and rights, it breeds despair and anger — and tragedies like this become more likely. The children are always innocent, but the adults and institutions bear responsibility too.
