If you are going to be forced to use an adapter, why not just make that an extra USB c port and use a USB c to Ethernet adapter?

I think everyone is missing the point. This allows the Ethernet to be onboard pcie instead of usb. The hdmi port is just because it is a solid port with 8 pins. Lenovo did something similar but used a proprietary connector instead, which I think is worse.

It makes sense for organizations that require physical connection but an rj45 would make the profile much larger. So it actually makes sense.

The adapter you need to make those USB-C ports useful already has an Ethernet port… in fact they could have gotten rid of the full size HDMI port and been fine. 😂

Uhhh… they did do that. They just didn’t make a pointless port that needs an adapter to do anything. They just have usbc. It already does exactly this with more options

Nah apples thing used to be USB-C port is the only pc port you need and then only give you one or two but they are slightly better than that now

Thunderbolt / USB C makes Ethernet adapters. If your computer has that why not just use one port over??
