My mom said I love you right up until the end, even though she had long ago forgotten I was her daughter. 💔

My husband of 44 years started changing at around 62. The kids and I didn’t realize anything was wrong. Turns out he had had a large silent stroke. We didn’t figure any of that out until he was about 68. He’s now 72 and has been diagnosed with FTD and aphasia. The kids had left home, we were going into our senior years and had so many travel plans….they’re gone. All of our ‘no kids’ plans are gone. He worked so hard and he really didn’t get to enjoy retirement. I never expected this to be our ending. He will stay with me for as long as I can take care of him but I miss my husband, my best friend. Huge hugs for anyone who’s dealing with this horrific disease. 🥰😞

My mom died from complications of dementia. The only person she knew in the end was my dad. They were together 65 years. It is a horrible disease. 😢

My husband has dementia. I have read that people with dementia has a heightened sex drive. He however does not search for affection with me but with other woman. Why?. please be honest. He is in a home for dementia patients now.

that's a beautiful analogy. my immigrant grandma had dementia and totally forgot my dad. he was her second son, out of 5 children. he was always second to his oldest brother growing up. the look on his face when she would remember everyone but him. I saw the little boy that he was growing up, always forgotten, always last. it is a horrible disease. this explanation takes the sting out of the loss of connection.
