If they got married right after high school, and she started college/career with his last name then all her friends and colleagues know her by that name. Would be confusing to go back to old name

When I left my ex husband I kept the last name until I remarried because changing your name is SUCH a hassle and I’ve got other things going on in my life that take priority than running around to the social security office and dmv.

It bothers her because she is insecure and wants full ownership . Maybe she likes the last name but maybe she doesn’t want to change for document reasons . Like if I got divorced I would 💯 keep my husbands last name because his last name is my name and it’s my identity now . Tell the girl to live her life and not be bothered

Let me say that if my husband and I ever separate (god forbid), I am keeping this last name. We don’t have kids, but the hassle of changing it back would be so annoying to me. ALL BANKS AND LEGAL DOCS? No fucking way, & it’s the name on my college degrees? I will be known by this name for the rest of my life.

Yeah, I changed my last name when I got remarried, but didn’t before because changing your name is NOT easy, and they make it super difficult in different states. Being your DL, your car reg, passport if you have one, at work, credit cards, bank account, car insu. It’s not fun or easy lol so I could see why possibly she wouldn’t.

It’s easier to keep the married name rather than go through all the paperwork. Plus if they get established in a certain profession, their married last name is on everything. It’s just easier to keep it.

I got married at 23 so I’ve been known by my married name for essentially my entire adult life, if things didn’t work out I’m not about to go through the hassle of changing it either legally or socially.

She cheated on him, not the other way around. She definitelyyy doesn’t care to keep his last name bc she was the one in the wrong. Guarantee if HE cheated she’d be changing it

Alternatively, does she have trauma associated with her maiden name? I have more than one male friend who have legally changed their last names to their mothers’ maiden names because of how much they wanted to separate themselves from their fathers.
