@pumpi_bumper: I’ll miss the penny 😔 The U.S. is officially phasing out the penny. It costs about 3.7 cents to make each 1-cent coin, and with billions minted every year, taxpayers lose millions of dollars just keeping it in circulation. The Treasury will stop producing new pennies in early 2026, though existing ones will remain legal tender. For cash purchases, totals will round to the nearest five cents, just like other countries that have retired their smallest coins.
