sunk cost and jealousy are a hell of a combination. they hate the idea they've already invested this much into this life (despite the ever-diminishing returns) and are jealous of the concept that anyone else could possibly have an "easier" time than they did. But that's the whole thing, we're humans and we are supposed to invest in life COLLECTIVELY and people who do not wish to be part of a collective are actively anti-social and dangerous to the community as a whole. its a shame our parents and their parents parents were raised with the dominant society preaching individualism, bc that was the killer right there. "Every man for himself" mentality is easy to back when you already have your needs taken care of (by being born into a comfortable family) but also the REALITY of being too poor to take care of yourself, much less other people. You can't save someone from drowning when you're also drowning... but we down here fighting to stay afloat, pulling each other under, while the people with the overabundance of life vests sit on their lifeboats and just tell us "you should have learned how to swim 🤷♂️"

I agree. And so much money is made off of the vast majority of us who are simply surviving - paying for housing, bills, gas, groceries. All those essentials taking a higher and higher percentage of our pay checks are lining already wealthy people’s pockets.

Thank you for saying this, most of us are barely surviving. Only a few are truly living and they have become aholes. Like people have to pick between car note, food, or rent. This is not ok. I will also not allow social media or strangers in the public gaslight me into thinking we just need to “work harder”.
