I absolutely believe the black phone was some industry plant because it's been praised to high hell. but yet I hear nobody really talk about it outside of the media and when I saw it, it was a fine movie. it wasn't anything great.

I'm not super into horror movies but it seems to me what makes a true horror icon is at least some amount of camp. Like Freddy Fazbear, Chucky, Freddy Krueger, and M3GAN all have a degree of goofiness to them that makes them unique. What does the Grabber have? His mask? Other than that he's just like any real life child kidnapper/serial killer. Nothing special and definitely not someone people want to enjoyably obsess over given his proximity to real life tragedies that people would rather have escapism from.

Art the clown is the closest anyone has made into an Icon in decades. Freddy, Jason, Chucky, Xenomorph, Pinhead, Gremlins, Beteleguese, Regan (Exorcist), and Pyramidhead are all classics. Art deserves his place. these others just don't match up

Black Phone was suuuuuuuuch a good movie, and I'm hype to see how they make the second one work. But yeah, 'The Grabber' seems out of place here with three other franchises that rely heavily on comedic content.
