The hardest part about having an accent in German is how bad Germans are at hearing the words not perfectly pronounced. As an American, that’s grown up with many accents around him from the US and from outside the US it’s so strange how strict their ears listen. 😅

Can you talk about -ig as in wichtig or zwanzig? I've heard it in language learning apps as rhyming with ich but I'm hearing it in real life as ig the way an English speaker would pronounce it ... but real life is in Switzerland so idk if I'm hearing it wrong or if it's a regional accent thing.

I found none of these hard, but I did grew up around my Oma and Opa, who didn’t really speak German around us but had the accent. Maybe that got me used to hearing and being familiar with those sounds?

Pfau is one of my favorite words.
Ich was hard to unlearn because we were taught 'ick' in high school. But when I met native speakers (prior to the Internet) it really helped with those sounds.

Do Germans sing in English and what happens. Adele speaks with a heavy english accent but it’s lost when singing. Something about hitting notes in pitch, what’s happening?
