People really need to slow down with the hype around Citra’s animatronic. What they’re promising basically combines way too many extreme engineering goals into one machine: waterproof, fireproof, bulletproof, completely silent, AND able to run over 30 mph. In reality, these things clash with each other. Making something bulletproof usually means adding heavy armor, which slows it down. To move that much weight at high speed, you’d need insane amounts of power, which either makes the machine loud or requires a giant power source that isn’t practical. Being 100% silent while running is basically impossible—motors, joints, and friction all make sound, even on the most advanced robots today. On top of that, fireproofing and waterproofing bring their own design limits and maintenance problems. Even with million-dollar budgets, top robotics labs like Boston Dynamics still struggle with balance, energy efficiency, and durability all at once. So while Citra might build something that looks impressive or works in a controlled demo, the idea that it’ll actually perform all of those features flawlessly in real-world situations just isn’t realistic. It’s ambitious, but it’s not magic.🪄
