Prohibiting guns it's not an option? Why would you ask for more security when you can take out guns. No guns, no shooting, no more security needed. I think the main problem is that owning a gun is so easy. Today most of the people own gun, if everybody owns a gun of course there will be shootings.

I understand security at schools. My thoughts are affordable childhood and adult mental health care and parents back in the home, present and available. It starts in the home. Also the violent video games are desensitizing. I don't know the solution

some facts for all the commenters saying JUST PROHIBIT GUNS IN AMERICA!!! the AR15 was created In 1956. From 1957-1982 there was less than 20 mass unalivings at schools in the USA. Let that sink in… in 25 years there was less than 20 total events. Fast forward to 2000-2025 and there’s been over 400 reported incidents at schools.. that’s a 700% increase. The guns Americans had access to has stayed exactly the same, yet the rate of these events sky rocket with modern times. Is the problem really the guns that they’ve always had access to? Or is the problem the society that Americans live in.

It's gotta be a worry & stressful as a teacher in America along with not letting the children see that worry as they'd be wanting children have as "normal" school day as possible..My thoughts & Prayers are with victims & families..

Can I ask why we should accept schools looking like prisons? Why should a school be a fortress? Doesn’t that create anxiety for the kids entering? Schools were more open and safe when Inwas a kid, why isn’t that now?

I agree having more security at schools. However I believe there should not be metal detectors. My freshman year of high school there were 4 swatting’s and 2 shootings leaving one dead and 4 injured. My district still would not put SRO’s(School Resource Officer) despite that. It wasn’t till my junior year that they had officers in school and outside the building. Since that we haven’t had a single shooting. I think schools should have SRO’s and back pack search’s should be used on high risk students.

schools need to up their security. there should be an officer at EVERY door of the school at all school hours and after school hour programs. Everyone should have to go through a metal detecting scanner system and bags need to go through a machine like the ones at the airports. every kid/adult should be checked more than thoroughly. the entire school, every nook and cranny need to be checked before and after schools to assure there is no one in it that had not been checked by a scanner system. Lockers need to be checked at every hour. The amount of work/resources that needs to go into making sure the school is safe to be in and gain an education from will take more effort and more staff that just dont exist. There are not enough people who want to do this kind of job and that is why this is happening so often. School security need to be turned into airport security. And then some. I am so sorry for the teachers who are there to help grow another child's life bc I am sure you have the purest of intentions and of course these kids in this generation DO NOT make it any easier. But with that being said, I truely feel home schooling is THE ONLY WAY at this point. if you send your kids to school buildings, EXPECT to hear that there was a shooting because for w.e reason, these kids are being targeted by people who can't find any other way to hold onto control in their own lives. Oh but if I kill kids at a school then I have all lll my control back... crazy world. Protect your kids and keep them home! Honestly, after V-tech and Sandy hook idk why parents are sending their kids to school. schools are not safe anymore and there is no changing my mind. this is ridiculous and I feel your frustration sir.

it really sucks because schools already lack funding and security is more money taken away from the actual education but its a necessity at this point. kids and teachers are being ☠️and its not okay😭
