Wait wait wait. I'm just now seeing the clip. I'd heard it was over a net cord. But you never apologize if the point plays on from the net cord. You only apologize if the net cord leads to the point ending and you winning it off of that.

I've been a fan of tennis since the mid '80s the fact that she reached the ball after it rolled over the net kept it in play she didn't win the point on that so it doesn't deserve a little wave. if she wasn't able to return after the roll yes but not the way it played out. IMO

She didn’t win the point on the net cord hit, she got to the ball and then Townsend hit it over her head. She’s just making an excuse for her behavior after the match to justify her comments. She should be a better loser, because that wasn’t it. Townsend is a class act and handled it better than I would have
