It's not controversial,unless a store is paying me,or giving me some kind of discount I don't know about,I neither check out my own groceries nor return a cart unless the corral is right beside me,these are jobs that people are paid and assigned to do,I'm a Gen Xer,it was literally once my job,and now it is someone else's

Not putting your cart back at the grocery store, or at least in the corral, tells me every single thing I need to know about a person. while Aldi was smart, people still try to scam the carts out of the person putting it away. Oh I'll take that for you! Not unless you give me that quarter you won't!

I would pass my cart on to the person that has just arrived and would need a cart. With the quarter still in the cart. A small gift/ gesture that just might make someone’s days better

Not only is that a pet peeve of mine, but I hate when the people that leave the cart out leave it in the middle of a parking stall. You go to pull in and you have to get out and move the cart before you could finish parking.

I’ve always thought that not putting the shopping cart back where it belongs is a sign of disrespect and a lack of civic sense. It’s embarrassing to see people leaving shopping carts in the middle of parking lots or on the grass

Aldi and trader joes! I worked there last yr and itd was pretty minimal. I think its also the type of people that shop at those stores, we really experienced a rude customer🌸

I’ve been both. When my son was a baby and it was dark or raining I’m not putting the cart back. I’ve always do try to park next to it so I can easily put it back.
