@miamiherald: Miami International Airport’s Skytrain is back in full gear ahead of the Labor Day holiday, airport officials told the Miami Herald on Wednesday. Station 1, the final section closed for repairs, reopened on Aug. 25, said Ralph Cutié, CEO of MIA, and has been operating since then without problems. It has passed all inspections required to return to service, he said. “Skytrain is 100% fully operational,” Cutié said in an interview with the Miami Herald on Wednesday. MIA is expecting more than 900,000 passengers this Labor Day weekend, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2. That’s an average of 157,000 travelers each day, matching the record-breaking same period from one year ago. The Miami airport Skytrain went out of service for six months between September 2023 and March 2024. Inspectors spotted “extensive structural cracking” in the columns that support the system. After repairs, the elevated people mover started running again about a year and a half ago. But one station remained closed until this week. 🔗: Read more at the link in our bio ✍️: Vinod Sreeharsha 📹: Pedro Portal, Esther Piccolino #miami #mia #miamiinternationalairport #skytrain

mIAMI's transportation systems are a disaster. Lack of maintenance, broken, elevators, broken escalators. It's a joke.
