mental health and disorders do not excuse actions, however if you don’t even try to understand them you’re equally as bad and unempathetic. you don’t have to be friends w them and you should totally set boundaries, however offer support if you are in a place too and if they refuse it tell them you don’t wanna be friends 🤷♀️

i wouldn’t say mental illness is an excuse, i would say that it does change the way u think n the way u act. but there is medication n therapy, everyone’s different but that’s definitely not an excuse to treat ppl some typa way

I always say it’s an explanation but not an excuse. I have bpd and when I’m in an episode it’s sometimes hard to control my emotions/actions but it’s something I’m working on and I always take accountability because I know it doesn’t excuse my behavior.
