I’m literally a quarter Peruvian (IK IK BUT LISTEN) but I get told I’m none of it because I’m too white like you are just erasing my grandpa (he was from Peru fully) just because I’m a quarter doesnt mean I’m not Peruvian yes I know I don’t have a lot but it is something that mother and grandpa told me to be proud of because not everyday you meet some Peru in the US. And if you would like to know I do take part in the culture as much as i can from there US

Also like what do people want mixed people to do?? Change their race? If there is nothing they can do about it then it’s best to not say anything at all

i get told i don’t look “indian enough” or “spanish enough” when i tell them im half indian and half spanish. hEDS makes me pale asf because thin skin but i promise the indian hasn’t evaporated from me because i have white privilege

quarter Mexican and im VERY white. but so are a lot of half (like my mom!) Mexicans AND people who are fully latine, like my grandpa(he was on the lighter side)! that doesn't erase the fact that I am VERY connected to being Mexican. I've been told by people who are much less of my race (who claim they are mexican) than I am that I'm too white to be Mexican, and it's just absurd😭 part of being a certain ethnicity is sharing that culture!

my dad is Japanese (and like super tan Southern Japanese/Okinawan) and my mom is mixed Mexican/White, so my mom and I bonded over being told we don't look like one of our ethnic backgrounds. My partner is also half Korean, his mom was born in Korea, and people always just think he's white

sometimes they seem terrified to see us as korean/mixed and need to label us white because they can’t cope with the fact that they treated someone with the same friendliness that they do with white ppl. This happened to me in college. Friend found out I was mixed and acted like she was going to have a breakdown arguing with me that I was lying lol. Later I noticed that whenever my Black classsmate sat at her table she would always immediately leave like she was terrified 🙄 Suffice to say we did not stay friends

This is so real, unfortunately. I’m half brazillian and a quarter black (my mom was mixed) but I’m white passing. So others always look at me weird when I wear braids, or participate in my own culture

i’m white and mongolian and the mongolian is probably so little but enough it makes me ethnically ambiguous and not white looking. i’ve experienced racism because of which race people assume i am.

I'm part Mexican and two types of Indian, and that's all my dad's side. I don't really look it, except I tan super duper easily. I heard a boy being racist and said "that's really offensive" and he asked why I cared and told him bc I'm part Mexican and he flat out called me a liar like... what 😭

Or acting like a quarter means basically nothing. Like I might be 75% white but that 25% means far more to be. I was heavily involved with the okinawan community around me all throughout my childhood. I was around that grandmother nearly every week while I met the other side maybe three times my whole life. And my sibling who has the exact same heritage as me looks more Asian, and people expect them to be ‘more Asian’ than me simply because I look more white.

Im mixed with hawaiian, chinese, and white. Since my dad is white and my mom is more mixed with Hawaiian and Chinese I came out looking very white. No one believes im mixed until they see my mother.

as another mixed race person, thank you😭 while I absolutely am privileged in many ways from how white passing I am that doesn't negate the PASSING. white (not mixed) people aren't white passing they're just white and i desperately wish more people were willing to listen to the nuances around race instead of trying to erase people's history and backgrounds but racism will racism sadly
