@markwilmson: The ONE Line to Say When They Ask About Salary They ask: “What are your salary expectations?” Most candidates blow it right here — and leave thousands on the table.” Never, and I mean never, be the first to throw out a number. Whoever talks money first? Loses leverage. Here’s the line that protects you and makes you look sharp: ‘I’d love to learn more about the role and responsibilities before discussing numbers. Can you share the range you’ve allocated for this position?’ Translation: You’re polite, strategic, and in control.” And if they press you? Use a bracket instead of a single number: ‘Based on market research, roles like this typically fall between $75K and $85K, and I’d be comfortable somewhere in that range depending on benefits.’ Handle this right, and you walk out with more money and more respect. What’s the hardest part of talking about salary for you? Drop it in the comments. would you use that tactic of they ask what's the lowest pay rate you'd be willing to accept?

I learned this years back. every job I interviewed for ask me what I'm looking for in salary, I turn their question into what is the range for this position.

I am annoyed when the salary range isn't posted. I don't like wasting my time or there's if they are withholding info on purpose to get the top candidates just to low ball us.

Some applications ask salary expectations before you have the opportunity to speak with anyone. The forms don’t always allow for a range.

cool topics in your other videos. in B.C Canada, every job posted has to disclose wages or salary. so you know either the $ per hour or $ per year so I don't worry about that question. it's a provincial law.

What would you say if they inquire about your last salary. I feel like I’m not getting my worth. I don’t them to try to low ball me because of my current pay.

Most people don’t want to hear a question in response to their question. How about, “This is how I’m currently compensated (fudging just a tad). The expectation is for their offer to exceed that amount.
