I was there for a week. It DID feel like a lifetime, it WAS traumatizing. I still had nightmares, I still had extreme and bad experiences, and I was still forcefully and suddenly isolated. Anyone who has been in there knows what it's like to count the days, and they know what it's like to feel uncertain when they're going to leave.

pysch wards are so traumatizing. it doesn’t matter how long you are there for, all kids walk out with same trauma.

thank you. i was only there for about 3 days (luckily) but i still have nightmares about it almost 4 years later. it never feels “valid” to me because i wasn’t there for very long. this was very validating

i went twice, once for a week and once for 2 months. the week i was there was much more traumatizing than the 2 months

I mean I lost my mind there in 3 days so anyone who stays longer is going through way more hell

i’ve been to the psych ward 4 times, the first time i only stayed for about 5 days but it was one the most traumatizing things i had ever experienced. people always romanticize and glorify mental hospitals but they are the complete opposite of what people expect.

i went to the psych ward so many times as a teenager and the first one was the most traumatic, so it makes sense that people who have only been there once would be super traumatized by it. idk why other people don't remember how scary their first time was.

I had a stay that was probably less than a week or a week (this was 7 years ago my memory is fuzzy) because I got emergency discharged on a weekend after getting physically assaulted there. sometimes its not about the length its about what happened while you were there. cause that wasn't my longest stay but it was the stay that made me afraid of psych wards

I had a week at the mental hospital, and it set my mental health back by so far. It wasn't HORRIBLE, since the food was good , but now I don't trust mental health professionals anymore at all, I'm so scared of going back that I can't be honest again

I have such severe symptoms I’m actually schocked I haven’t ever been fully admitted. I have bp-1 with psychosis is bpd. I think the only reason I haven’t been admitted is because my parents would rather let me get worse than help.

My own mother makes my psych ward stay about her. I had a VERY traumatizing experience at that place and she still brings it up and cries about it making it all about her whenever she talks about me to her friends. I am not saying it wasn't hard for her, but bringing it up constantly brings back terrible memories for me and she shouldn't be making about her when she has no idea what really went on there.

Yeah i was in a psych ward for 4 days bc of an attempt and when i was packing up my roommate told me "idk why you even came here if u were gonna leave after 4 days" that was over a decade ago and i still vividly remember it like it was yesterday. It really affected me and made my teenage mentally ill brain believe that meant i needed to get worse or i wasnt really struggling. That took YEARS to come back from and i still struggle with it

My longest stay was 23 days when I was 15 they don’t keep ppl long where I’m from unless you get sent to the state Psychiatric hospital and that’s usually court ordered
