Not the government here… We spoke about this not so long ago, it was inevitable. So many rooms have been built in a short space of time without any improvement or upgrading of the sewerage system. A house that was originally meant to accommodate 4 people now accommodates 15–20 people. In short, the system is not designed for the current population in that area. Additionally, some of these constructions did not receive municipal approval, so the municipality has no idea about the actual numbers.

The biggest issue we have in emfuleni is cable theft at the pumping stations. Cables get stolen and sewage can't be treated. Which causes blockages and collapses in the already outdated sewage system.
