The ghost cities are just brand new built cities where people haven’t moved in yet. If you look up any “ghost city” that western media reported on a few years ago, you can go there today and find them actually filled with people.

NYC has a great housing lottery. I live in midtown for $900 a month in a modern building. All of America needs to get on board.

the reason for this is that we dont want a housing bubble. it also ensures you will get a house in your city for a low price

I think American landlords (or would-be landlords) are angry that a lottery system means they can’t scoop up all of cheap housing and then flip it 400-1000% like they do in other countries. Those real estate lobbyists feed their displeasure into the media and the media pumps out “China has ghost cities which means they have a huge homeless population and don’t let people have their own homes” meanwhile in America ⚫️🪨 is buying up every empty home in America to make them rent-only and there’s roughly 8 empty homes per homeless person. Nobody cares about the ghost buildings in Atlanta or any other major city that’s been gentrified and priced out MOST people. Once again, every accusation is a confession. 😒

These are not the ghost cities, thr are plenty of abandoned buildings and apartments in shanghai because those are private housing where no one buys the houses cause they are too expensive and developers refuse to lower prices resulting in many vacant apartments…..

Forgive me if I'm wrong (I probably am) but weren't the "ghost cities" a problem YEARS ago, and then the government stepped in and dunked on developers that were screwing things up? Which... our government would never! Ours would double down on the crooked developers. 🤣

For the people who are able to buy through the lottery; is there a certain amount of time they have to keep the homes before selling on the open market? What's to stop them from immediately reselling at a profit?

I remember a decade ago hearing about these ghost cities to give construction companies "work" instead of being idle. Wrong, cause China knew their population was growing and needed to have places for the future population

Nobody here in the US really wants to hear how China tries to take care of its citizens. I love this idea to promote first time ownership. I'm really worried about the US.

Western media focuses only on the 1% bad in China and ignores the 99% good effort. It's easier to visit and see the truth for ourselves than rely on legacy media.

Interesting. So if someone gets a new home through the lottery, how long do they have to live in it before being able to sell at the market price?

We bought 120m2 in Zhengzhou and it was sold normally like everywhere else because it was not freshly built . It is good that the government keeps new builds for their citizens. China destroys old buildings that are falling apart => people apply for new buildings before => China pays out the original price of their old apartment to help people get new one (if you get same size it’s almost the same price)

tell them that the new built apartments, you are just buying a concrete shell and you have finish it off, plumbing electrician, water, painting flooring etc... that why new homes are lot cheaper than old homes
