My tenant ran away after not paying rent. They owe R21000 and they just vanished. Moved to a different city. Even changed jobs. This all happened whilst having a lease agreement. So what do we do as landlords? Who protects us against people like this?

They need to clamp down on these ridiculous deposits expectations especially for those working with agents. Also why must I pay for your admin fee and credit checks. Up to R30k despot expected for monthly rentals of R8k ridiculous.

i would like to know how a landlord can justify his rent on a property? I stay in a 2 bedroom cottage on a small holding, my tiles are cracked and broken, I have no built in cupboards in any bedroom or kitchen, I have my own cupboards which I use, the outside of the house has cracks and broken pillars...but yet he still wants an increase...I've been here nearly 6 years in that time he has built two new houses and done repairs to 3 of his other cottages....and yes I have asked but I get told he is looking into it...I pay on time, and unfortunately have a poor credit record so I'm unfortunately not able to find alternative accommodation...it just seems so unfair, especially when everything goes up except your salary and you end up in a situation where you can't move elsewhere because you are deemed as uncredited worthy or high risk...

lol this is so funny...waterproofing...my kids and I got diagnosed with chronic lung infection due to the mould build up....landlord said it's my fault cos I dont open the windows😂

The landlord get every month their money but don't fix maintenance like people before don't take care of property but nothing get fix on the end of day so it go on from one tenant to another.

so all I heard was a new rule to protect the tenants.... what about us landlords who are ACTUALLY liable for the bond and insurance? so a tenant can evade payment for months and the burden still lies with the owner.

my ex landlord did not give my deposit back..and I did not cause any damage. She failed to repair the property when there was a woman before me for 8 years..that never fixed anything..I took her to court but never got it back..not my fault..at all.

The days of property being an investment are long gone. Stop buying property to rent out. If people can’t afford to buy, they can make a plan. If you are a landlord, you will be ripped off at some point.
