Attorneys today debated the admissibility of a photo of Young Thug’s co-defendant Shannon Stillwell with the late Quinton “Boo” Porter. Trontavous “Tick” Stephens testified that Boo was one of fhe founders of ROC Crew. Tick also testified that no one else in the courtroom was a member of ROC Crew because no one else was raised on Cleveland Avenue, and ROC stands for Raised on Cleveland. After hearing argument from Deputy District Attorney Simone Hylton and Stillwell’s lawyer Max Schardt, Judge Ural Glanville said he’ll allow the photo. It won’t come in until next week when testimony resumes. Young Thug's lawyer Brian Steel erupted at Judge Ural Glanville this week over the admissibility of a video of Thugger performing his 2021 song "Droppin Jewels." Steel wants to show the jury the video from Thug's NPR Tiny Desk Concert performance to counter questions Chief Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love asked confessed YSL gang leader Trontavious “Tick" Stephens about the lyrics. (You can watch a clip here: @Meghann Thee Reporter Merch.) Judge Glanville already told him no and Steel got the angriest I've seen him (you can watch here: @Meghann Thee Reporter Merch ), but Steel told the judge today he wants to recall Tick as a witness so he can ask him about the video. That prompted Judge Glanville to hear more argument about the issue. He started with Love. (First, he called the song "Dropping Diamonds.") I've got the full arguments on my YouTube channel. At issue is the "rule of completeness" in Georgia state criminal law, which Love explains in the clip. This has to do with Steel wanting to get as much of Thug in his own words in front of the jury without being subject to cross-examination. That's what Love says he's trying to do, but Steel says he's simply trying to counter Love's reading of the lyrics, which included voice inflection that doesn't match Thug's.
