I'll explain the ending, he's back to change/correct what he didn't do inside of that train and to go in the Hospital with her ex. Originally he didn't protect the mother w/ her baby and he's going to his work. They're probably on loop in Exit 8 because they did something bad and he finally learned his lesson inside of that. The Exit 8 is a timeloop, everything that's inside of it came from different times. The boy is the child of the lost man in the future. The Boy disappeared at the end because the Lost man finally escaped the Exit 8 because he proceeds to go to the Hospital. The Boy said he didn't met his Father, so the Lost man probably change his timeline by doing that.
