As a manager, I will never understand bosses that beg their employees to stay. All that employee is gonna do is cost your company more money in the long run because they're miserable. Them leaving is doing both of you a favor.

2 week notice is not mandatory, a company can't make it mandatory, someone giving 2 week notice is a courtesy by the employee leaving.

The only time it really means anything is if you hope to be rehired later. Give notice, you have the option for rehired. Quit without notice and they put you on a no-rehired list. My name appears on one or two of those.

My employer recently flipped out on one of my coworkers because she had to leave the position unexpectedly because of a schedule change within her family dynamic, and she has children. I mean, they were mad… then this past Wednesday they hired an elderly guy to fill the position and they kept making comments about how slow he was and how it’s gonna take too long to train him that he’d probably be a great employee if we didn’t have to spend a month getting him caught up and all this BS… 4 1/2 hours into his very first training shift, of which he showed up an hour early to start because he was so excited, they’re collecting his T-shirt and handing him his paycheck. Literally drove over to payroll to have them print this guy up a paycheck for four hours on his very first training day. Said they know they can’t fire him because of his age, but there’s no way he’s gonna be able to hack the job… These are all of their words by the way, so there’s lots of problems here… This is also a gas station by the way.
