This.right.here!!!! You must go with the temperament of the furbaby. This is what my Dad did for NOPD K-9. When he would bring home a dog, their temperament changed immediately. They were just part of the family, for most of them. However, there were many that could not make it into the K-9 division because they were more like Laze.

Jet is a lover not a fighter, now Bear, he was a protector and I was so thankful for that predisposition he had when I lived in Chicago. He may have only been little, 10 pounds, but his ability to read people’s energy was amazing. He always protected Jet and I on walks. He didn’t like someone’s energy, he would alert me and we would be on high alert. Miss him everyday.

I have Pit bulls and a Min Pin, we do a lot of off leash hunting for small prey. My Chihuahua/ SHIH Tsu tags along, but he is not interested in going after anything. Different strokes….
