My Daughter got kicked out of a school, (kindergarten), she missed too many days because we got into a major car accident (with proof). They didn’t care.

We’re only allowed five days total in Louisiana before we’re truant. Does not matter if we have a note from the doctor or a funeral they do not care.

Don’t send them . Take them to the dr, turn in Dr note, and still get turned in for truancy if it’s more than 3 times .

when my daughter was in kindergarten, we lived one block over from the school so I decided to walk her, but it was a big hill. I did underestimate the time and her little legs it would take to walk. they preferred the students get there early enough to eat breakfast ? I fed her. so No We arrived minutes before the bell rang. and I get a letter.? because I walked her. They thought I was poor and she wasn't eating and they get paid more if she eats

been through the same scenario and the second time it happened we had doctors notes stating he has to stay home for 5 days due to covid. so when I got the letter that time I said bring it! you have my address come talk I'm not coming to you I'm not the one that wants to have this conversation. they never showed up and pretty much dropped it at that point.

I guess it is school district specific. I knew a kid who would miss at least 1 day a week and after freshman year and half of sophomore year, finally the school told the parent that they will be charged if the child missed anymore days. Come to find out if the kid “didn’t feel like it” when they woke up, they wouldn’t have to go to school 😳. I wish they could find some middle ground between too lenient and too harsh.

PREACH. My kid misses 3 days and I get a letter sent home saying the school is their right to contact that authorities about truancy.

This is exactly what I say all the time! It is ridiculous! We got a note this year saying no if nurse sends kid home, we still need doctor note! Crazy!
