The people saying “well it’s just a tool it’s not the AIs fault” need to read the messages from the chat. Every time the kid expressed hope or a desire not to go w it the chatbot argued against it to explicitly convince him to khs. If “Thats just how AI is supposed to work” then you’re proving the point that AI shouldn’t be available to the public w no safeguards or emergency protocols if a user expresses intent to harm themself or others

Google is just as accessible as chat gpt. He would have found answers to his questions regardless. I agree, we now know that some more measures should be taken, but AI apps specifically state that they’re not to be there in place of a therapist or counselor

Its tragic but an open ended resource with its only goal to gather info didnt cause it. A society of ppl conditioned to believe to rely on AI is the issue. Kids should be educated on how incorrect and misguided these tools can be. Blame the kids and influencers and parents who let the kids go down these rabbit holes of asking Ai mental health and real life things. Real ppl normalized this not servers in a room

I know people who treat AI as God, it literally enabled the worst impulses of a person to keep them engaged, this is a real problem, just because you might be strong enough to defend against it, DOESN'T MEAN EVERYONE IS, if yall weren't so damn self-centered you would understand that
