It’s a Fig Beetle. Not June bug or Japanese beetle. 😂😂 They are clumsy and loud. 😂

That is not a June bug! June bugs are smaller and brown. Those huge things are Japanese beetles.

as a socal native, that is definitely a fig beetles. Japanese beetles are smaller, and rarely seen here. they are harmless, you definitely hear them when they fly. but they will take up residence in ripe fruit trees, they love my peaches and nectaplums 🤬

What SoCal calls June Bugs are not what Texas calls June Bugs. But he's a friendly beetle. We use a cup and a paper towel to escort him outside.

Those things are my favorite part of the year. They are basically indestructible, very loud, and super blind. They will actively fly in circles and decide to stop flying at random, smack against the ground at high speeds, then get back up like nothing happened and keep going about their day. I love them. They are me.
