My grandma entered the army on a dare. Her best friend said she couldn’t complete basic training. She ended up as a first sergeant in Afghanistan and was in for 10+ years

I did 7 years in the Air Force because a recruiter told me that “I’d have better luck in the Army”. I needed a single waiver that he said he didn’t want to do. Didn’t have any serious interest in it until he said no. Went to a recruiter 3 hrs away and was in basic about a month later.

i knew of someone who got injured in basic, decided they didnt want it anymore and decided to say they had lied on their enlistment paperwork to get out. i get were an all volunteer force but jesus... how do people not understand the military is not working at Macy's at the mall.

The people I knew in the AF that didn't want to be in anymore just went through the process and left. It takes awhile, but yeah the military sucks, I get it

I joined the Army because of a dare and I only got out just before my 2 year mark because of an injury, but it was still the best dare of my life and I plan on going back
