If a trans person is looking for medical intervention (hormones/surgery/blockers), the health care provider has to diagnose that person with gender dysphoria to justify treatment. Unfortunately, just wanting the medical intervention to match your identity without distress doesn’t justify treatment and a diagnosis must be given to provide that kind of treatment. That’s just the nature of the health care system in the U.S.

I tell all my doctors that I don’t have gender disphoria. I don’t like that diagnosis. It’s been a while now tho and I do pass n maybe that why I don’t feel disphoric anymore. I guess I also don’t trust the system to have that diagnosis on my record.

This is like great like when I first came out that alone made it easier for me to like talk to ppl, like the internalized shame over my body in general made it impossible for me to connect with ppl, and it was only thru that and now healing my trauma as I’m doing that I’m finally fully free
