I once had a patient scream half of the night calling out to God, she had schizophrenia and apparently insomnia… My coworker use the intercom as God and told her to go to sleep, and we did not hear a peep the rest of the night

B4 I was a nurse I was a cleaner/porter at the hospital, NO ONE told me this man had passed and his family was saying their goodbyes so I went into the room to get the garbage then mopped and was chatting away with the family and didn’t know he was gone until I got a call to take him to the morgue…. I was so embarrassed

I had another nurse bring a dirty bedside commode to the nurses station and proceeded to clean it WITH HER BARE HANDS and a sani wipe !!!! I stood there with my mouth open and she asked me what was the matter. 😂😂😂

In nursing school during my Peds rotation, the instructor told myself and a fellow student that we should sample the Tylenol #3 before we gave it to the patient so we could let them know how it taste….. I did not!

I worked with a Travel Nurse in the mid to late 90’s. She was from Texas, she had a gun strapped to her back, we worked in a terribly unsafe part of the city. One night she pulled it out over her back and showed everyone she wouldn’t be a victim. Gotta love people from Texas. I don’t think anyone reported her either

An ER nurse had a patient with a high temp and I steadily of using ice packs she just put them in a body bag full of ice with no skin barriers 🙄

Guys in hospitals by me started having the nurse supervisors/directors pronounce patients as a confirmation for the nurses instead of getting the on call house physician.

My coworkers walked in at shift change immediately after we had finished a pedi code and proceeded to go room to room making a “things that weren’t done” tattle list to send to our director 🤗

On one of my first nights as a charge nurse one of my nurses went on lunch and never came back. We looked everywhere. At the 90 min mark I was made aware of the situation and had security outside looking for her while my staff looked for her in the on call rooms and other departments. Nada. Called her home her cell. The vocera was logged out. When I was getting ready to call the police she showed up at the 3 hour mark. She fell asleep in her car and didn’t hear her alarm. Security guards didn’t find her car in the parking lot because she parked on the street. So thankful the night as far as patients weren’t bad. But she was reported for abandonment by our manager and let go.
