I think its because people get the under coat rack mixed with the furminator. the furminator you should use on double coated dogs

I use the stripping knife for my goldens neuter coat around his hocks where the hair is too thin for the undercoat rake!!

I'm a groomer and I looove stripping out neuter/spay coat. While it can never be permanently removed, temporarily removing it is super satisfying
