It bewilders me also. However, I’ve been in practice nearly 20 years and have watched the trust erode. I believe much of this started bc the system is broken. Health insurance and big pharma have become abusive to everyone…patients, Drs, nurses, support staff, everyone! I think subconsciously some patients blame us. We need real reform.

People confuse the general public’s unwillingness to take care of themselves, or listen to their providers’ advice, for providers “keeping people sick”. Saw it in EMS, see it now working in a clinic setting.

people are sour because medicine and doctors arent perfect, we dont always find an answer, we cant always cure.....and thats ok.

I would say, there’s some not great providers that will for sure do this. But the vast majority don’t do it.

I think I have a unique perspective. I got sick when I was 15. I ended up becoming a RN mainly bc of how I was treated in the medical system. I think there are sooo many amazing doctors, NPs, PAs, nurses who genuinely want to help & DO help. Other times there’s system issues whether it’s insurance or what not that puts hurdles that the general public has no idea about that these Amazing providers literally fight tooth & tail for patients. With that said, there is also a huge issue of problems in our healthcare system of bad providers. Dismissive providers. No doctor/provider will ever know anything or should be expected to know everything bc the medical world is vast & every changing. However, there is a problem with doctors telling patients it’s psych issues without assessing them. It happened to me more & even after I finally got a diagnosis doctors still refused to listen to that diagnosis. I spent years in agonizing pain wondering if I would be able to ever work. Spend thousands upon thousands of unnecessary trips to the ER due to delay in care. And Im not alone. Im grateful for finding doctors & surgeon who listened to me but its a big problem & creates distrust with patients. Its why i now help ppl find doctors.

Thank you. I’m a normal person. I’m not spending my 20s and almost half a million dollars to get my MD to then just… not help people. It makes no sense and it’s so upsetting to hear.
